## 1. About Backstage

Backstage Chat is an AI romance character chat service that officially launched in April 2026. Centered on AI Boyfriends, it offers an experience where users can talk with each character, build relationships, and create their own stories.

We are currently expanding our service and content with women in the United States as our primary audience, while also extending our reach to other regions, including Europe.

Backstage goes beyond simple AI chat by connecting **Episodes** with **Character Chat**, expanding how users discover and immerse themselves in characters. Users first experience a character's background and relationships through short Episodes, then continue talking directly with that character to create their own stories.

## 2. Backstage Creator Program

The Backstage Creator Program supports creators in publishing the characters they've made on Backstage Chat and introducing them to new users.

Backstage aims to go beyond simply adding existing characters to another platform. Our goal is to help the characters you create be discovered by new users and build a real fanbase.

The Creator Program currently offers:

* Premium access
* Placement in featured promotional areas within the service
* Promotional opportunities through our official social media and communities
* Opportunities to participate in new Creator features and programs

We are continuously exploring additional Creator benefits and opportunities.

## 3. Premium Access

<Steps>
  <Step title="1-week Premium pass">
    Invited creators receive a 1-week Premium pass so they can experience Backstage's Premium features firsthand.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish and join">
    Publish at least one character within that period and let us know you'd like to join the Creator Program.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Additional 1-month Premium pass">
    Once you do, you'll receive an additional 1-month Premium pass.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  Premium passes are applied to your own Backstage account, and **no charges will be made automatically** after the free period ends.
</Check>

Additional Premium passes may be provided afterward, based on your activity and in discussion with you.

## 4. In-App Promotion

Characters from creators participating in the Creator Program are given priority consideration for placement in Backstage's featured promotional areas.

<Steps>
  <Step title="NEW">
    By default, new characters are introduced to users through areas such as **NEW** on Main Home and **NEW** on Explore.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Featured, Worth to Try, and more">
    After appearing in NEW, characters that reach **5K+ messages**, based on creator activity, character popularity, and user response, may receive additional placement in higher-tier featured areas such as **Featured** and **Worth to Try**, or in other areas suited to the character.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Currently, the NEW area primarily features each creator's signature character. For creators who run multiple characters, additional placement may be considered depending on the number of registered characters and their activity.

Characters are not permanently pinned. The operations team selects and rotates featured characters based on factors such as character quality and content suitability.

<Info>
  Even after official promotion ends, your character can continue to be discovered through general browsing areas and related categories.
</Info>

## 5. External Promotion

Not every Creator Program participant is automatically promoted on every external channel. Characters and content are selected separately.

After prior discussion, some creators and characters may be introduced on external channels such as Backstage's official social media and Discord.

When external promotion takes place, your creator name, profile, public character images, and other public character information may be used as promotional material.

## 6. Derivative Works and Episodes

If we create separate derivative works, adaptations, or other new content outside the service based on a character, we will discuss it with that creator separately.

For example, Backstage may operate or expand content promotion that connects Episodes with Character Chat. In this format, users first meet a character through short story content and then continue talking directly with that character.

Suitable characters from the Creator Program may be additionally introduced through this kind of Episode content. If producing an Episode constitutes creating separate derivative content based on that character, we will discuss it with the creator in advance.

## 7. Creating and Migrating Characters

Backstage provides a **Create** page where you can log in on the web to create and manage characters. This means you can create and manage characters on the web without installing the app.

We currently do not offer an Import or Migration feature that automatically brings in characters from other platforms. To register an existing character on Backstage, you'll need to re-enter the character profile, description, images, and settings in Backstage Create.

<Tip>
  Bringing over many characters? For creators who want to migrate a large number of characters, such as those with 10 or more existing characters, the operations team may assist with the migration process where possible.
</Tip>

## 8. Creator Interface and Tools

The Creator Interface currently lets you manage the settings needed to build a character, including:

* Basic profile and images
* Personality and other character settings
* World and story
* First messages and example dialogues

Some settings are not visible to regular users and are used as internal settings to shape the character's personality, behavior, and conversation experience.

Characters can be edited after publishing, and we are expanding Creator Tools so you can keep improving your characters.

### Coming next

We plan to develop the following features:

* **Creator Analytics:** Easily check how your characters are performing, including conversation counts, user counts, and engagement.
* **Creator Follow:** Let users follow the creators they like and keep discovering their new characters.

## 9. Copying and Content Protection

Some core settings of a character are in areas that are not visible to regular users.

As a result, there are limits to how much a regular user can view a creator's full internal character settings or create an exact copy using only public character information.

However, this structure does not mean that unauthorized copying by other users can be completely prevented technically.

If a third party uses a creator's content without permission, or publishes content that infringes a third party's copyrights, trademarks, or other rights, that content may be restricted under Backstage policies.

## 10. Character Consistency and Memory

Backstage is designed so that conversations with characters flow naturally, based on character-specific settings and character-dedicated prompts.

To maintain character consistency and conversational continuity, we use recent conversations and summarized past conversation information so users can pick up where they left off.

## 11. Sharing Characters

On the web, you can currently share individual character page URLs externally.

We are also designing and developing a Creator Page and in-app character sharing.

## 12. Content Standards

Backstage is an 18+ service that allows romance, mature themes, and stories centered on adult characters for adult users.

<Warning>
  Sexual coercion, sexual content involving minors or age-ambiguous characters, exploitative content, and excessively explicit sexual or violent content are restricted.
</Warning>

For more detailed standards on what is allowed and restricted, please refer to the Backstage Chat Creator Terms and related content policies.

## 13. Countries and Languages

Backstage is currently available on the App Store and Google Play in multiple countries, and we are gradually expanding the list of supported countries.

However, depending on App Store and Google Play policies in each country, the app may not currently be available for download in some regions. You can check with the operations team whether a specific country is supported and when support may be added.

Backstage currently uses English as its primary language. We are considering expanding to more languages and automatic localization in the future.

## 14. Feedback and Communication

Creator Program participants can share feedback and requests and communicate directly with the Backstage team through the Backstage Chat Discord.

Issues you encounter while using the service, Creator-related inquiries, and other requests can be submitted through the `help-and-feedback` channel.
